Pink Chalk....gone bad!

These are from August, but I had forgotten to post them!

I love it when...

I just absolutely love it when we can make a dream come true for one of our kids! (or for anyone really)
Caleb has been obsessed with trains for quite some time now. One of his favorite movies to watch is the I Love Toy Trains series. If you have a train lover and have never heard of this series you should really check it out. Well there is an I Love Toy Trains STORE in Michigan! A few weeks ago we took a long weekend trip to Michigan to see David's family. We really had no intention of stopping at this store. We had forgotten about it. Then we saw the sign for the store and decided we should stop. Caleb didn't see the sign so he had NO IDEA where we were going! It was actually really fun for us! His eyes were big as saucers when he saw the store. (although you can't tell in the pic because they are closed and I didn't realize it till it was too late!) He couldn't believe we were actually there.
It was a really neat store. Caleb kept pointing out things that they show in the movie. It was fun! He picked out a little train to buy and that is currently his most prized possession. He's been saving his money to buy a Lionel Train for a while, but we didn't get one this time for two reasons. 1. He doesn't quite have enough saved up yet (and I'm hoping we can find one at a garage sale or on craigsl!st for cheaper!) and 2. We just plain don't have room for anymore trains right now! It'll be perfect when we have a house again with a basement!
That day was a dream come true for Caleb! And ultimately it was a dream come true for David & I to be able to take him to this store!

Fall Treats

What is your favorite fall treat???

Without doubt, this is mine!

Our future rockstar!

A few weeks ago we watched Hannah Montana The Movie. I know, laugh all you want. I have SUCKER writen all over my forehead when it comes to teen disney movies. Seriously. But I am okay with it and I have decided to accept myself for who I am. I hope you can do the same.
Erika was completely in LOVE with the movie. She went to find her microphone so she could sing and dance along. It was a.d.o.r.a.b.l.e.
Here's a little video clip of our future rockstar. :)

The Great MN get together!

One thing we really missed last year in Texas was going to the MN state fair as a family! I was up in MN during the fair and was able to go (twice, actually) but David was not able to. So this year we were very happy to get to continue one of our favorite end of summer traditions!

Here are a few pictures from that fun filled day!!
We started the day off with a ride on the carousel!

Our wonderful cup that only cost $1 to refill! We save this cup from year to year and bring it back! (yes we did let our kids drink a rediculous amount of pop that day....it's a special occasion! don't worry though, we all had plenty of water and lemonade as well!)

Along with the rediculous amount of pop they drank, they also ate a rediculous amount of sugar! Look at how HUGE these cotton candy cones were! We helped a little with these, but they were pretty protective of their cotton candy!

And look! We even ate vegetables!!! :)

It just wouldn't be the state fair if we didn't check out all kinds of John Deere tractors!!

Here's Caleb with the Pronto Pup statue!
Caleb is just like his daddy when it comes to frozen treats. He inhales them. Almost literally. Erika on the other hand is just like her mommy when it comes to frozen treats. We savor them. Which in turn means we usually have to share them. What a good big sister she is.
Going for a bumper boat ride! This was a pretty fun ride for them!

Erika honey, it helps if you keep your hands on the wheel!
Our future race car driver! This was his favorite ride...although I'm surprised kids don't end up with whiplash from it!
Erika & mommy.
About five minutes in the car and they were OUT! Pop & Sugar didn't affect their sleep one bit! They had plenty of time to run it all off!!

Five Questions Friday

My Little Life

While visiting Kami's blog I noticed she's been doing this blog carnival, and I thought it looked fun and simple! So here I go!

1. What is the one thing that you reach for the most in a day (excluding phones and computers)? Well my phone wins hands down....but since we are excluding those, I'd say the milk! I feel like the milk container is in and out of the fridge so much during one day!

2. What is the farthest you have been from home?
Cancun, for our honeymoon! I'd love to go back someday! Well really I'd like any vacation with just my hubby again!

3. What kind of cell phone do you have? Love it or hate it?
I have an LG Lotus. I've only had it a couple weeks and I definitely LOVE it! I went from a ghetto no good phone to this one and it's great!

4. Coke or Pepsi?
I'll take a diet vanilla coke from Sonic please.

5. If you could go back and change anything about your wedding day, what would it be and why? Hmmmm, well there are a few things that I would like to have been different but to save hurt feelings I won't share them here. One thing I would definitely go back and change if I could though would be pictures. I LOVE my wedding pictures, but for some reason we never got pictures with Grandparents. My Grandma has since gone home to be with the Lord and I would love it if I had a picture of me & her on my wedding day.

Now it's your turn!!!

Erika's 3rd Birthday

Okay, it's totally catch up time on my blog! I just realized that I never posted pictures from Erika's birthday!
One of my long time dreams was to have a little girl and make her a barbie cake for her birthday and this year that dream true!!!! It was SO much fun making this cake! And super easy too. I'm not talented at all when it comes to cake decorating, so really anyone could do this!!!!

Opening her gift from Uncle Mike, Auntie Anna and her cousins!

All while they watched from Michigan thanks to Skype. Grandpa Ruch also got to tell her Happy Birthday!

(and Caleb got to say hi as well!)

Isn't technology wonderful???

We were blessed to have Grandma Ruch in MN to celebrate Erika's birthday with us!

Here's the birthday girl all decked out in her new dress up clothes and her fashion puppy!

I think this picture is hilarious!

Erika sporting her new barbie wig & shades from the MN Ruch's!

And much needed clothes from Grandma & Grandpa!

This is one of her favorties now too since it has a kitty on it!

And why only celebrate once?? It's her 3rd birthday and we ended up celebrating three times!
Here she is with her princess cake from Grandma Mary & Grandpa Matt.

And here is the awesome Barbie Dream House that she got from Grandma & Grandpa!

She LOVES it!!

Last but not least, here is the celebration we had with a few friends! Thanks Allie & Charlie for coming to celebrate my birthday with me!

Overall I'd say Erika had a GREAT birthday! She is a blessed girl and is a blessing in our lives! We pray for many more birthdays to come!

I know, I know....

It's been quite a while since I last blogged! I honestly just haven't taken the time to sit down and blog. I have been reading a few different books (which is so NOT me!), I'm currently sucked into Gilmore Girls, scrapbooking, re-organizing all the closets and there is the never ending pile of laundry. And a whole long list of excuses lifes occurrences as to why I haven't been blogging!

I promise to have some new blogs up by the end of this week!
Here's what you can expect: Caleb's birthday highlights, state fair, labor day weekend and our future rockstar. Plus I am sure there will be more!
