Dr. Appts, Health Issues & Bears, oh my!

Just wanted to update everyone on what is happening in our family and this seems to be the best way.  Please don't be offended if you are finding this stuff out through my blog and not a personal phone call.  I just don't have it in me to call 20 different people with an update.

I took Jenna in for her 6 month check up last week.  Instead of leaving with a clean bill of health I left with a referral to a pediatric cardiologist.  Her heart has been beating too fast.  It's not outrageously fast, but just above the normal range.  Next week she will have an echocardiogram done and then we'll meet with the cardiologist.  To say we are nervous is an understatement.  It's hard not to worry and let our minds go "there".

This afternoon we are taking Erika to an ENT to see if she will need to have her tonsils removed.  I don't know how long her tonsils have been big simply because I don't typically say "hey kid let me see your tonsils"  However about a month or so ago she was sick and asked if I could make her mouth stop hurting. My 1st thought was strep throat so I looked in her mouth and her tonsils were literally the size of ping pong balls!  HUGE!  I took her in and she indeed had strep.  Now that she is over the strep I've been checking on her throat and her tonsils have gone down, but they are still pretty big.  I asked my doctor if that was something I should bring in for.  She asked me a few questions (all to which I replied yes) and said she didn't even want to see her and referred us straight to the ENT.  Erika really has no idea that surgery could potentially be in her future.  All she knows is that a doctor is going to look at her tonsils today.

And then there's Caleb.  Not to be left in dust by his sisters, we have discovered that he has some color blindness so we need to  bring him to the eye doctor to find out just how bad it is.  We think it's just certain colors and shades that he has trouble seeing.  He has also been telling me that his ears are foggy.  Foggy?  Yes, foggy.  He came up with this description all on his own.  "Mom, you know when it's foggy outside and you can kind of see but you can't see everything?  That's how my ears are.  I can hear, but I can't hear everything.  It's like my ears are foggy"  Pretty impressive for a 7 1/2 year old if you ask me!!

Thankfully David and I are healthy right now and we are praying it stays that way!!!!

We would appreciate your prayers!!!  (and I will keep you all updated)

Wow, Sarah! Lots going on for you guys. I'll definitely be praying for you. When my daughter, Abby, was 4 years old she had her tonsils and adenoids removed. Her tonsils had been so big that she had some sleep apnea. To be honest, it was the best thing we ever did for her. Prayers and HUGS!

Sarah that is a LOT to have on your plate. I truly believe that sometimes we have to fight through the battles to come to victory and a new level with God - and I pray that these battles will be easily won and that the enemy can't have his hands in your family. I can't imagine the stress you must be feeling. If ever there is anything I can do for you, please let me know!

Praying for you, sweet friend!
